San Jose, January 2013
Every now and then something falls into place perfectly. That’s what happened at our recent event at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles where Exec Producer Shelly Zegart spoke about the series. The Museum was running a special anniversary exhibit (Collecting Treasures: Celebrating 35 Years) which was the perfect backdrop to “Episode 4: What is Art,”members of the Santa Clara Valley Quilt Association were on hand to help engage in stimulating conversation and Shelly’s daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren were able to drive up to take part in the special event.
Museum Director Christine Jeffers interviewed Shelly in front of a packed crowd followed by an engaging Q/A session with audience members that included Fiber Artist Yvonne Porcella. The conversation moved from the museum to an intimate dinner hosted by Nancy and Clayon Bavor in Los Altos Hills where members of the Museum – Curator Deborah Corsini and Membership and Development Assistant Hallie Brignall – attended. A great time was had by all from the food to the wine to the thoughtful conversation. It’s not every day we get to share a table with luminaries like Rod Kiracofe, Joe Cunningham, Joan Schultze and Judith Content.
By far, the highlight of the evening had to be when Shelly’s grandson, turned to his Mother and said: “I had no idea that Gramsey had a whole other life. I thought she was just Gramsey.” Now, that was worth the trip. Check out our upcoming screenings in Stillwater, OK, on Feb 24, as well as in Carrollton, KY, on Apr 16h and Santa Fe on Apr 27th.
