Politics<\/em>, joined Executive Producer and Host Shelly Zegart in leading the discussion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1327\" title=\"Coffee with Vadis Turner and Shelly Zegart - Nov 5, 2011\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whyquiltsmatter.org\/staging20231003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/20111105_Vadis_Event_group-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Coffee with Vadis Turner and Shelly Zegart - Nov 5, 2011\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whyquiltsmatter.org\/staging20231003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/20111105_Vadis_Event_group-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.whyquiltsmatter.org\/staging20231003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/20111105_Vadis_Event_group-1024x764.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.whyquiltsmatter.org\/staging20231003\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/20111105_Vadis_Event_group.jpg 1296w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The conversation took twists and turns but the attendees agreed that the women behind art quilts and traditional quilts still feel a connection even though their techniques can often be very different.\u00a0 The group also touched upon how quilting has come full circle.\u00a0 Today, women quilt or take part in crafts not because they have to but because they enjoy it as a hobby and no longer feel the stigma attached to a traditionally &#8220;domestic&#8221; activity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>When we showed a clip of Vadis&#8217; from Episode 4: &#8220;What is Art&#8221; Vadis explained that something changes when you move a quilt from the bed to the wall &#8211;
