Happy New Year, everyone! If you are in–or anywhere near–the San Francisco Bay Area this coming weekend, here’s an\u00a0opportunity you won’t want to miss…<\/p>\n

On Saturday, January 5, at 2 PM, Shelly Zegart<\/a>, Exec Producer and host\u00a0of the series Why Quilts Matter:<\/em> History, Art & Politics<\/em>, and\u00a0an expert at the forefront of quilt study for over three decades, will\u00a0present a special program at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles<\/a>, located at 520 South First Street, San Jose. Following a conversation with SJMQT Executive Director Christine Jeffers\u00a0about the “Art of Collecting,”\u00a0attendees\u00a0will be treated to a viewing of WQM<\/em> Episode 4:\u00a0\u201cWhat is Art?\u201d<\/a>\u00a0A reception follows at 4PM, providing the perfect opportunity to “continue the conversation.” Cost (including the reception) is\u00a0$20 for museum members, $30 for non-members, and $15 for\u00a0 students and seniors. The event comes as the Museum celebrates its 35-year anniversary with a large survey exhibition, aptly titled Collecting Treasures: Celebrating 35 Years<\/em>.\u00a0<\/a>The 75 works on display are drawn exclusively from\u00a0the SJMQT’s\u00a0outstanding permanent collection, and showcase important early and historic quilts, recent acquisitions of contemporary fiber art, and\u00a0fine examples of\u00a0ethnic costumes and textiles. Make a day of it: come early, view the exhibition, and then enjoy\u00a0the program\u00a0and reception afterwards.<\/p>\n
